Description
The Institute for
Sustainable Communities (ISC) is looking for advocacy
trainer/project director to participate in the implementation of
civil society programming in the MENA region. Consultants will use
established ISC tools to conduct trainings and programs which
respond to the needs of civil society participants. We are
especially interested in candidates who have achieved positive
impacts and demonstrate creative and adaptive advocacy
capacity-building in challenging environments.
Ideal candidates will
have senior-level civil society experience in the MENA region with
a proven track record of designing, implementing, and directing
international programs that present innovative approaches to:
advocacy & leadership; NGO capacity development; citizen
participation in public policy decision making; and the use of
public information networks and new media to advance civil
society.
Organization

ISC is an innovative,
international development organization that has successfully worked
for 20 years to give citizens and the organizations that support
them the tools, skills, and resources they need to improve lives
and build a more peaceful, stable world.
Responsibilities
- Significant past
experience in the Middle East and Northern Africa
preferred;
- Ability to develop and
sustain close relationships with partner organizations, USAID
missions, host government officials, and a wide range of national
and international NGOs;
- Must be fluent in
English and Arabic, French desirable;
- New media experience
preferred;
- Able to analyze the
training needs of participants and prepare and conduct trainings
and workshops;
- Strong prior
experience in overseeing capacity-building and grant-making
operations that can be adapted to emerging opportunities and
trends;
- Senior level
management experience preferred;
- Management of USAID
funded programs and strong financial management;
- Demonstrated ability
to rapidly establish in-country office and operational presence, as
well as hire exceptional national staff;
- Experience in
developing annual work plans and preparing regular program reports
and documentation is critical, as is the ability to establish and
sustain program monitoring teams and impact evaluation.
