Brief Posting Description
Establish a network of institutions and businesses with QSTP for
the advancement of multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional
commercially oriented research in the ICT sector. Define a strategy
and implementation programme (incl. marketing, scouting, business
development) aimed at identifying, selecting and supporting
ambitious long-term research initiatives that benefit national and
international interests. Support the improvement of the way Qatari
industry harnesses the output of ICT related research to produce
high quality and value services and products. Focus on emerging
scientific domains that offer potential to contribute to the
National and Regional economic, social and cultural
development.
Detailed Description
• Coordinate the effective delivery of QSTP’s Research programmes
across the organisation • Develop strategic direction and plans for
future growth of the Research Grand Challenge Research Networks and
Corporate Research programmes in the field of ICT, in coordination
with QSTP staff, Managing Director and Board
• Proactively identify, evaluate and select ICT related research
projects worldwide that are of national and/or international
interest to Qatar
• Network research projects with institutions and businesses in
Qatar
• Integrate selected projects with other QSTP capacity building
programmes
• Assess and measure business sustainability of the projects by
engaging with external parties where and when required
• Conduct research on external organisations and businesses
relevant to the research programme by engaging with external
parties where and when required
• Carry out due diligence of the projects for assessing and
recommending an investment
• Represent QSTP and build relationships at relevant events and
meetings, e.g. local and overseas institutions and agencies,
roadshows, conferences and exhibitions
• Prepare written communications to keep audiences and partners
informed
• Share information with QSTP colleagues to keep them abreast of
external relationships and developments relevant to their roles
Skills
Job Requirements
• A strong education background (Master degree or PhD
preferred)
• At least five years experience in a business or a management
consulting role
• Excellent knowledge of international ICT markets
• Robust analytical and strategy development/planning
skills
• Experience in leading the financial and operational aspects of
growing programmes
• Ability to multi-task, handling numerous tasks across multiple
functions each day, prioritizing effectively, and managing time
well to accomplish all key tasks
• Proven success in providing deliverables • Good communication
skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to readily establish and sustain positive relationships
with new individuals and organisations, and to function as part of
a team and to share information within the team
• Willing to travel internationally
