Head of CSR
This is a great opportunity to embed CSR within a best in class
shopping center developer/investor. It is also a great opportunity
to have a positive impact on the communities in which Client
(CLIENT) operates and to build the reputation and profile of
CLIENT’ CSR programme.
This is a stand-alone role, responsible for the Middle Eastern and
North African remit of CLIENT.
The role will involve:
Acting as a senior CSR ambassador within CLIENT
Liaising with CLIENT Group and its other ventures to ensure
alignment and synergy of CSR-related activities.
Support in the implementation of the CSR Policy within all business
functions including: Business Development, Asset Management,
Development/Project Delivery and Corporate Functions. This
responsibility will span all asset classes.
Promoting and enabling increased internal understanding and
participation in the CSR initiatives through communication and
awareness programmes.
Provide counselling, coaching, knowledge and awareness in
developing a behavioural change and training plan to raise
awareness and embed CSR across the business. This will include
engagement and capacity building for all levels of
employees.
Contributing to policy and regulatory developments in the fields of
CSR across CLIENT’ countries of operation.
Identifying opportunities to demonstrate leadership and promote
success in CSR.
Acting as the key company CSR representative on the CSR Committee
and Working Groups
Supporting the CSR Working Group leaders to achieve CLIENT ’ annual
CSR targets through capacity building and management
oversight
Ensuring the measurement and board reporting of CLIENT’
environmental and social KPIs (key performance indicators) on a
quarterly basis.
Establishing through the CSR committee the appropriate targets for
the following year.
Driving continuous improvement in the achievement of CLIENT’s CSR
Policy (e.g. 15% reduction in CO2e emissions in the building by
2013)
Project-managing consultants(e.g. energy audit project) to time and
budget
Overseeing the coordination and publicity of CLIENT’s first
external CSR report in 2012
Maintain awareness of current legislation and market changes
relating to sustainability and environmental compliance. Recommend
management actions to ensure statutory and industry obligations are
met and comply with best practice requirements.
Report to the CLIENT’s Board and other relevant committees on
sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance.
Coordinate the submission of entries to appropriate industry
awards.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Substantial experience (5 years post degree) in delivering against
CSR/sustainability strategy, preferably in a global or Middle
Eastern context, and covering both social and environmental
impacts.
Deep understanding of real estate investment, development and
management processes.
Excellent communication skills - for example presenting findings
and recommending strategies for adoption at Board level, and
presenting at industry seminars and conferences.
Proven experience in influencing and inspiring organisational
change.
Ability to delegate and manage internal and external
resources.
Confident self-starter, able to work with initiative and to
implement agreed strategies.
Capable of adapting and evolving processes to respond to business
objectives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint,
Word).
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Formal qualification in sustainability, corporate social
responsibility or environmental management is desirable.
Experience of working in Matrix organization.
Experience in the fields of social auditing, health and safety or
relevant green building professional accreditation is
desirable.
Able to present to internal and external groups (verbal and in
writing).
Able to work on own initiative and put forward ideas for
change.
Emirati nationality is desirable.
