Environment & Sustainability Specialist-FMCG firm
The purpose of this job is to continuously improve the environmental and sustainability aspects of the Dubai site and thereby to deliver the corporate commitment of being “sustainable within a generation”. The Job holder develops and owns the policies and systems that reflect legislative and corporate standards, ensuring compliance to the required standard and protect the environment and the business from risk.
The role requires a sound understanding of environmental and waste law, associated regulations and a good understanding of plant, machinery and processes within the factory, labs and offices, and the subsequent wide variety of work and how the activities impact on the environment in order to provide meaningful advice.
Key Accountabilities
- Development and implementation of the environmental and sustainability program in the site on a yearly basis, thereby to deliver the targets for energy, water and waste.
- Pro-active waste reduction programme by applying Lean concept that drives and supports continuous improvement in line with ISO 14001 .
- Reduce direct fossil fuel energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in the site .
- Maintain the Dubai site’s environmental management system ensuring that it delivers business benefits, as well as continued accreditation to ISO14001.
- Carry out internal environment audit program, ensures tracking of all non-conformities, identifying root causes and implementation of corrective actions, updates inspection spreadsheet and sends out report.
- Establish a culture of sustainability so that all associates understand, act and choose sustainability. Roll out and continuously improve the sustainability education program in the site on a yearly basis.
- Work closely with the regional OPEX & CAPEX leaders in developing and implementing the yearly green OPEX & CAPEX plan for the site and the region.
- Develop & maintain contact with the global, local environmental & sustainability teams to capture the new technologies and sustainability initiatives.
- Lead & coordinate the energy saving, water saving, waste reduction & sustainability activities in the site along with the core teams.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years working experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with environmental management experience.
Previous experience in IS0 14001 environmental management system will be an added advantage.
