VISSWANATHAN.A, PRINCE2 certified has over 18 years of extensive experience in Development Sector particularly in Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR), Employee engagement (voluntary) programs, Project Management, Corporate Communication, Public Relation, NGOs Functioning, Strategic Alliances, Management System Review, Social Audit etc. He has absolute capability of Networking, Representation, Laisoning, Collaborative and Collegian Relationships with Corporate,Government Officials, Media and vvarious Institutions and Regulatory Authorities. He has sound understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility Policy - section 135 of the Companies Act 2013, advocacy /right-based approach initiatives, Capacity building/transfer of skills, Identification & Selection of Partner NGOs, Participatory Analysis of Capacity building needs of NGOs and provision of needed technical assistance, training activities and cross visits.. He has spearheaded and nurtured the CSR culture in Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) as a Manager - Projects. He was responsible for coordinating and liasioning with the Board of Trustees, relationship building with NGOs as well as lead strategically CSC employees towards its social objectives. He has managed CSR activities of Covansys Binergy / CSC Foundation helping those most in need at the right time and in the best direction viz: Development of appropriate MIS, evaluation plans and monitoring systems at all levels – to monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks and take timely corrective/preventive actions. . He has lead and executed the employee engagement (voluntary) programs at Covansys-CSC for about 10 years. He was instrumental in creating a basic value and a brand image - “ Covansys - CSC as a socially responsible organization” by developing strategies and execution of CSR initiatives to maximize the benefits to the underprivileged. He has strengthened the “Rehabilitation of Leprosy Afflicted Persons (LAPs) – Non residents of Leprosy Homes & Colonies” an activity at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore and was a key player in making Sri Ramakrishna Math a role model for Leprosy Rehabilitation Work in Chennai, India. He has been recognized for his leadership in prevention of dehabilitation & in successful rehabilitation of already dehabilitated LAPs.
CSR Interest & Background
Visswanathan.A has lead and executed the employee engagement (voluntary) programs at Covansys-CSC for about 10 years: 1. Education Initiative – Annual – This is aimed at supporting educational needs of underprivileged children of various government primary schools, orphanages and our own support staff (office assistants, housekeeping staff, security staff). • Distribution of uniforms to around 750 children • Distribution of educational materials like black board, teaching materials, library books, etc • Providing infrastructure support like renovating play grounds, constructing compound walls, class rooms, etc 2. Support to visually differently abled – Annual – This is aimed at supporting visually differently abled children in learning Braille and continuing their education. • Scholarships (Rs.500/- and Rs.2,000 for merit scholarships with three sets of cassettes) to visually differently abled students are provided through CSGAB (College Students and Graduates Association for the Blind) • Audio recording lessons • Reading lessons for them • Providing scribes for them to write exams • Providing UBK (Universal Braille Kit) to visually differently abled children. UBK is a specially designed kit containing 7 devices to enable any literate person to teach Braille and any blind person to learn Braille and related literacy skills 3. Leprosy rehabilitation – Annual – This is aimed at supporting the rehabilitation of LAP (Leprosy Afflicted Persons) through Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai. • Building self confidence and self esteem among LAPs thru Interaction and Motivation • Providing financial support to LAPs in establishing small business units like (petty shops, telephone booth, etc) • Providing support to children of LAPs in continuing their education • Impart Knowledge on Health and Hygiene in coordination with Deputy Director of Medical & Rural Health Services (Leprosy) • Encourage the habit of saving a proportion of their incomes 4. Anandha Deepavali – Annual – This is aimed at bringing the joy of deepavali to more than 1000+ less fortunate children from • Orphanages • Homes for mentally differently abled • School for visually differently abled • Home for physically differently abled and street children. During this event, children are provided with new dresses and a sumptuous feast. Also they are entertained by various cultural programs. This day long event is conducted by, Udavum Ullangal, a registered public charitable trust. 5. State Level Sports Meet for the differently abled – Annual – This is aimed at encouraging the sports talents in the physically differently abled and enabling them to get recognized in other sports events conducted at national and international level. This activity is supported through Tamil Nadu Handicapped Federation. 6. Visit a Home- Monthly – This is aimed at visiting homes (orphanages, old age homes, etc) to help our volunteers to understand the needs of less privileged and to alleviate their sorrow for a little while and lighten up their spirit. 7. Blood donation – once in 3 months – This is aimed at organizing blood donation camps, the simplest of all service activities albeit the noblest, once in three months at our premises. 8. Organize Sale / Exhibition – Occasional – This is aimed as a platform for the inmates of various homes to showcase their talents and provide a forum where-in they can sell their wares to support their livelihood. 9. Support to relief activity – Occasional - It is our commitment to respond to every natural catastrophe in whatever way we can, to help them from nature’s wrath. We are firm believers in the saying “helping hands are better than praying lips” 10. Go Green Initiatives – Bimonthly - This is aimed at planting trees in and around the organization – watering and applying Panchakavyam to trees in and around our park area. Also maintaining the organic vegetable garden at GoodLife centre established by CSC. 11. Swayamvaram/Mass Wedding for the differently abled – Annual –This activity is supported through Tamil Nadu Handicapped Federation. 12. State Level Convention on the Rights / Social Security of Women with Disabilities – Annual – This is aimed at educate, elevate and empowerment of Women with Disabilities. This activity is supported through State Forum for Rights of all Women with Disabilities.
