    Professional Background

    Dr. Lessidrenska, born in Sofia, Bulgaria, is one of the original founding members of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Starting in 1999 in Boston, USA as a member of the GRI Interim Secretariat, later working as a GRI Stakeholder Engagement Director at the GRI Secretariat established in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and since 2005 in her capacity as GRI Associate and as independent sustainability expert, Dr. Lessidrenska has been a catalyst for and contributor to the growing GRI uptake in Russia, Eastern and Southern Europe, Africa and Latin America. She is a recognized expert in the field and currently provides advice, training, and hands-on assistance in the field of sustainable business development (CSR), responsible governance, sustainability and integrated reporting to large and small enterprises and institutions in emerging economies and globally. Among her clients are: Serena Group Luxury Hotels and Lodges, Kenya; Akbank, Turkey; Triodos Bank, the Netherlands and associated with Triodos Bank group of Micro Financial Banks in Uganda, Nicaragua, Peru, Kenya, and Mongolia; as well as UNDP and the World Bank/IFC Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF). Developed a multi-module training program on Sustainability Reporting and since 2011 has been implementing the program in Turkey for WBCSD member companies and for future signatories of the TSE Sustainability Index. Currently Dr. Lessidrenska leads the development of an innovative Ethics and Sustainability for SMEs Program in China as a part of her work as Program Executive Business Ethics at the Globethics.net, Switzerland. Dr. Lessidrenska is a co-author with Prof. Judge Mervyn King of the recently published book „Transient caretakers – how to make the life on Earth sustainable”, PanMacmillan. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Management. As a sustainability practitioner and researcher, Dr. Lessidrenska is a frequent speaker at sustainability conferences around the world. She has sat on advisory boards and lectured in North America, Europe and Africa as part of development, implementation and integration of sustainability in the academic education.
