    Professional Background

As a PhD candidate (Social Anthropology) specialising in Sustainable Development, I see the understanding of people as an integral part of advancing the sustainability industry. The way individuals perceive their environment, their cognitions, values and behaviours, are all anthropological issues at the very heart of sustainability. I believe that my nuanced anthropological perspective, coupled with high-level proficiency in analysing and translating complex quantitative and qualitative data, will make me an asset to the sustainability industry.

    CSR Interest & Background

As a PhD candidate (Social Anthropology) specialising in Sustainable Development, I see the understanding of people as an integral part of advancing the sustainability industry. The way individuals perceive their environment, their cognitions, values and behaviours, are all anthropological issues at the very heart of sustainability. I believe that my nuanced anthropological perspective, coupled with high-level proficiency in analysing and translating complex quantitative and qualitative data, will make me an asset to the sustainability industry. I am a natural leader, having recently won an international award (as a young South African visionary) for my proposed project on South African slums. Furthermore, I am a founding member of ‘Fixing the City’ (in partnership with Tokyo University Graduate School of Sustainability Science), an academic research group aimed at conceptualising and pioneering innovative means of sustainable development. In closing, I believe that sustainable solutions are centred on the need to address fundamental issues of sustainability culture – an area in which I offer valuable expertise.
