Professional Background
• Lead and participate in teams providing sustainability strategy and management, including human resource and labour management and performance, stakeholder engagement, environmental management systems and environmental performance, occupational health and safety management systems and performance. These projects include: framework analysis, sustainability management integration, and action plans. • Lead researcher across several major sustainability projects in the region. This included the following projects: Sustainable Investment in the Middle East and North Africa Report for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Responsible Competitiveness projects (‘Responsible Competitiveness in the Arab World 2009’ report, and the ‘Responsible Competitiveness in Jordan’ report). Research included desk research, stakeholders’ engagement – comprises organizing and conducting interviews with civil society organizations, government representatives, and businesses. This also includes data revision, data analysis and reports writing. • Project Manager and team leader for “Developing Sustainability Report” projects for different organizations in different sectors within the region, this includes leading the whole process of report writing: Establish the sustainability team Conduct sustainability team training, with a focus on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicators Support the sustainability team to gather and verify the data Develop the sustainability report drafts and get client’s feedback Follow up with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to get the report checked and to finalize the report GRI level These projects have included: National Commercial Bank (Saudi Arabia), the first bank in the Middle East to adopt sustainability management and reporting, earning a GRI Level B grading; Aramex, the first multinational company in the Arab world to adopt sustainability management and reporting practices, earned a GRI Level B+ grading. The Society of Majid Bin Abdulaziz for Development and Social Services, the first Saudi NGO to achieve GRI level A report. Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Company, who also earned a GRI Level B on their first sustainability report; Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), who earned a GRI Level A. Other…Dolphin Energy, RasGas, Department of Municipal Affairs (Abu Dhabi) • Contribute to the implementation of baseline tracking systems of the full-range of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicators for entire organizations, development of health and safety management systems based on the OHSAS 18001 standards, and calculating green house gas emissions. • Support efforts regarding carbon emission measurement and reduction.
