Professional Background
I have an MA in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) – the pioneer in social work education in India and one of the finest in the world. I am also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML), a top-ranked B-School in India and have an undergraduate degree in business management. My career objective states that I'd like to excel in the sector which would provide me the best platform to display my management background with demonstrative social work skills through hard work, research, skill set and perseverance. I look forward to a career which challenges me to be consistent, innovative and pushes me beyond my comfort zone while giving me contentment while enabling me to achieve organizational as well as personal goals. My past work experiences have been in diverse sectors and issues such as in market research (AC Nielsen, UAE), Disaster risk reduction & climate change adaptability (OXFAM International, Bangladesh) with communities affected by cyclonic storms and other frequent natural disasters through its Resilience through Economic Empowerment, Climate Adaptation, Learning and Leadership (REE_CALL) Project, Business analysis/ development/ marketing support/ corporate communication/ corporate social responsibility (Mumbai), grass-roots social work with shelter homes for children of Chakma refugees from Bangladesh, high-risk groups (female sex workers & MSM), community based rehabilitation project with a UN partner NGO. My field engagements as a student intern/ worker were on community mapping on livelihood aspects, micro-level planning process among the urban poor, slums and the homeless in Mumbai, implementation of the Indian Forest Rights Act, 2006 with the tribal communities along the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar, work on health and mental counseling among people having alternate sexual preferences such as trans-genders, male sex workers, MSM etc. I have lived and have received my education from different cities in India and have also travelled extensively. This exposure to diversity in cultures, attitudes, contexts and issues have sensitized me and made me adaptable to work and live even under trying and challenging situations and circumstances. Therefore, I will be extremely grateful if you will consider my application for a suitable mid-level position where I can also prove myself to be an invaluable asset to the organization. Finally, I am attaching my curriculum vitae with this letter for your perusal and do not hesitate to email me (minto.reang@gmail.com) to take this further.
