My career objective is to become an established academic in the field of Social and Environmental Accounting. The first stage in achieving this objective will be publishing the major findings from my PhD thesis. During my PhD programme, I plan to participate in local and international conferences and present papers. These papers will generate some publications in leading academic journals. I will build on these outputs to get a strong research record by cultivating research skills for example through networking and especially by developing further my abilities in creating, managing and analysing large data sets. I regard the latter as a key strength of my PhD project and one that if properly cultivated will form the basis of significant competitive advantage for me as a researcher both nationally and internationally. As an academic I also wish to enhance my experience as an educator and participate in research supervision. While I have a particular interest in Social and Environmental Accounting and quantitative research methods, my capabilities, experience and interests in teaching are much broader.
