Professional Background
I am Aditya Kumar, a recent environmental postgraduate from the Lancaster Environment Center, Lancaster, United Kingdom, last worked as an Environmental Specialist at Environmental Management Centre LLP in Mumbai, India. Currently in Bangalore. A little about my background, while doing my BE Telecommunication at MS Ramaiah institute of technology I realised in my first year that I would not do that as a career my entire life. By then I had already been exposed to my family run, foreign funded tribal empowerment NGO called "training and education for rural development" or "TREND" in which I have been involved since childhood travelling throughout the country seeing, experiencing and contributing to a very rewarding movement. I started taking up more serious roles in the NGO during my engineering and coupled with my interest and self studied wisdom about wildlife photography, man-environment interaction i got interested in how various groups of people interact and manage the environment they live in. This made me decide upon taking up a formal degree/education/training in environmental management and sustainability. I completed my engineering, where by this time I honed my peoples skills more than diodes or computer programs and was ready for my masters. During my education int he UK I met and worked with very interesting people who shared my passion of using what we need from the planet in a way that benefits every stakeholder and ensuring that there is continuity for the future. During this time I got the unique opportunity to work with one DR. Andrew Jarvis on a project titled "Adaptive decision making in Land use change management in Scotland". This project was executed to aid policy makers in Scotland develop a plan to conserve biodiversity in Scotland by paying farmers to adopt land use methods. I studied a policy makers dilemma when dealing with complex environmental issues. I wrote a source code using MATLAB (since i am excellent at math) used to illustrate this dilemma. I returned to India to look for work and assist my family in the NGO bringing in innovative ideas. I also wanted to explore my entrepreneurial side which i will do more emphatically in future. My previous job, as an ESG analyst at Solaron Sustainability Services, Bangalore, was the first I had when I returned to India. I liked the idea of influencing investor decisions to ensure a sustainable future. I then went on to work for Mumbai based Environmental Management Centre LLP run by Dr. Prasad Modak. In My short stint there I have worked on a variety of research based consulting projects. My work involved mostly research and contributing to reports. I believe I have a strong ability to engage with people. This jobs restricts my peoples skills and hence I am looking for an opportunity that takes me closer to the the point of impact (i.e implementing ideas, plans and my mind to ensure successful environmental management to come closer to sustainability in practice) along with allowing me to use my peoples skills. If you do feel that my profile/background (CV attached) would fit in somewhere in your organisation or anywhere else you think i could have the right kind of impact please do connect, I will certainly be happy to do so.
