The TAKREEM Award for Philanthropy and Charitable Services

Suad Juffali is Managing Director of Ahmed Juffali (AJ) Benevolent Foundation and the Founder and Member of the Board of the Trustees of the Help Center, a special educational institution. By developing this center, Mrs. Juffali initiated a vital practice to support rehabilitation for mentally disabled children, helping them claim their place in the community.
 
Her dedication to social welfare, health/medical/educational programs, art, literature and music spans some 60 years of active service in the Middle East and USA.
 
Suad Juffali has demonstrated an outstanding sense of civic responsibility by establishing and organizing the first Women’s Welfare Society and the Al-Faisaliyah Women’s Society in KSA, both of which seek to enhance the quality of life of women and children through education and health.
 
Mrs. Juffali is a member of the board of Dar Al-Hanan School in Jeddah, the Saudi Institute for Health Services, and an Advisory Honorary Board Member, Effat Women’s University. She is a member of Women’s Council for National Projects for Training and Employment. She is on the Board of Trustees of Dar Al-Tifl Al-Arabi orphanage school and college in Jerusalem and serves on the board of several hospital and welfare societies in Palestine.
 
Mrs. Juffali is on the Board of Trustees of the International Academy of Amman, Jordan, the Arab Thought Foundation in Beirut and is on the Board of Overseers of the Lebanese American University in Beirut (LAU). She serves on numerous boards in the United States including Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and the Institute for Palestine Studies in Washington, D.C.
 
In Egypt, Mrs. Juffali served with distinction as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Cairo from 2001-2005 and has held Advisory Trustee status since 2005. Mrs. Juffali has clearly demonstrated throughout her career what it means to live by the values of service to society that is integral to American University of Cairo’s (AUC’s) own mission. She has demonstrated dedication and commitment to AUC through her leadership role in organizing and hosting countless alumni events for the university and in promoting AUC’s interests and reputation among her extraordinary network in Saudi Arabia.
 
Suad Juffali holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the Beirut College for Women (now LAU) and an Honorary Doctorate in Human Letters (Hon.Lh.D.) from AUC. 
 
She is the recipient of AUC’s Distinguished Honorary Alumni Award and holds Certificates of Appreciation from the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Jeddah for Rehabilitation and Care of the Handicapped; from Dar AL Hikma College (formerly Dar AL Hanan School)- Jeddah, Friends of Dar Al Tifl Al Arabi-Jerusalem, Al-Faisaliyah Women’s Welfare Society-Jeddah, the Jeddah Economic Forum, Jeddah Autism Center, Effat University-Jeddah, and the Lebanese American University-Beirut.
