Orpic, SA and Vale donate RO 50,000 to needy families

On the occasion of Eid al Adha, Oman Oil Refineries and Petrochemical Industries Company (ORPIC), Sohar Aluminium (SA) and Vale donated RO 50,000 for the needy families of Sohar and Liwa of Al Batinah North Governorate surrounding the Sohar Industrial Port.
About 1,000 families will benefit from the fund which will enable them to purchase their requirements for the ongoing Eid al Adha festivities. The project aims at mitigating the burdens of the needy families during this festive season.
One thousand coupons will be distributed among 1,000 families, 600 of which come from the Wilayat of Sohar and 400 families are from the Wilayat of Liwa. The coupons will allow them to buy the requirements, including clothes, footwear and commodities, on the occasion of Eid al Adha.
The system of coupon distribution has been adapted by the fund to give the families flexibility in buying their needs. The firms have partnered with trading centres and stores in two wilayats to facilitate access to the needy families. Out of the belief of the sponsoring companies to boost local entrepreneurship, some stores managed by Omani citizens have also been chosen.
The combined gesture of ORPIC, SA and Vale is a step for the firms to approach the community and develop their corporate social responsibility actions. The local community will hail the initiative as it suits an occasion like Eid al Adha. Thus, the firms are working to maximise the effects of social investments by focusing on the welfare of the community.
