BankMuscat, Carrefour tie up to help youth with special needs

BankMuscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, organised a training programme in association with Carrefour hypermarket to equip young Omanis suffering from hearing and speech impediments with the necessary skills to develop their careers and contribute to national development.
Fifteen physically challenged Omani men and women benefited from the vocational training programme leading to their absorption by Carrefour for various jobs. Manasik al Moosawi, CSR Officer, said: “As part of BankMuscat’s CSR commitment, a comprehensive plan is in place to train Omani youth in various fields. The bank attaches importance in supporting people with special needs, especially the segments dependent on social security and other groups who need support and assistance.
The programme is aimed at enabling citizens with special needs to gain employable skills and overcome difficulties they face in career development.” Ahmed bin Hamad al Saidi, a beneficiary of the training programme, thanked BankMuscat for the initiative which contributed to developing workplace skills.
Manasik added: “Empowering the physically challenged persons helps them to actively participate in nation-building. BankMuscat is very sensitive to the needs of people with special needs and keen on enriching their lives. The training programme is yet another affirmation that BankMuscat is a true partner in supporting people with special needs.
Such programmes help in achieving a better understanding of the needs of physically challenged people in the wider community.”
