Zubair Corporation signs Memorandum of Engagement with Pearl Initiative

The Zubair Corporation - the prominent Omani business group engaged in diverse sectors - has signed a Memorandum of Engagement (MoE) with the Pearl Initiative, the private-sector led program developed in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Partnerships that is creating a regional network of business leaders and policy makers within the GCC countries.

Rashad Al-Zubair, Chairman of The Zubair Corporation, has also been welcomed as a Pearl Board member.

'Zubair' is one of the most trusted names in Oman, and has flourished through a combination of pioneering leadership, courage and vision. Over four decades, it has expanded and diversified, bringing new business thinking from around the world into the Sultanate of Oman to help build a vibrant and modern nation. Established in 1967 by Rashad's father Mohammad Al Zubair, it is now a group with over 60 wholly owned companies, subsidiaries and associates in various parts of the world. Its portfolio encompasses Energy & Logistics, Investment, Real Estate & Hospitality, Information Communication & Technology, Engineering Construction & Contracting, Manufacturing, Advertising and Publishing, and extends to Heritage and Culture.

Being a Founding Partner of Pearl Initiative will further drive the corporate ethos of Zubair, in which transparency, corporate governance, accountability and social responsibility are highly valued.

Rashad Al-Zubair is delighted about the new partnership. "We firmly believe in social responsibility, either individually or collectively, and good corporate governance has always been at the core of The Zubair Corporation's philosophy," he said. "We want to share our ideas with the other Founding Partners, and learn from them wherever we can, all the while spreading the values of the Pearl Initiative - transparency, corporate philanthropy and governance - across the Gulf region."
