MANAMA / BAHRAIN: Zain Bahrain is committed to the cause of promoting sports and encouraging more youth of Bahrain to participate in such tournaments, added Hussain.

The tournament will also be co-sponsored by Akhbar Al Khaleej, Al Ayam, Al Watan, Al Bilad, Soccer Scene, Muharraq Club, Mansoori Catering, Game Point and Miracle Graphics.

"We believe sports immensely boost the morale of a nation and we are passionate about making the Kingdom of Bahrain a hub of major sports activities," said Zain Bahrain's corporate communications specialist Ghazi Radhi.

"One of Zain Bahrain's core corporate social responsibility values is built around the positives of sportsmanship, and we have a roster of major events such as the Zain Bahrain Basketball League and the activities of the Bahrain Basketball Association, which we sponsor.

"We look forward to great participation in this year's football tournament and are confident of treating the people of the Bahrain to some great action on the field."

ZAIN Bahrain is set to liven up evenings during the holy month of Ramadan with some great sporting action in the Zain Bahrain Corporate Football Ramadan Tournament.

The competition will feature three weeks of non-stop football, commencing on August 5. Matches will be held at the Muharraq Club stadium in Arad.

Details of the tournament were announced yesterday in a Press conference held at the Zain headquarters in Seef.

The event will comprise 16 teams representing local companies and businesses. They will be divided into four groups for the preliminary stage.

The top two teams from each group will move on to the knockout rounds, which will feature the quarter-finals, semi-finals and eventually the title-deciding clash.

The tournament champions can look forward to a staggering grand prize of BD3,000 for first place. The runners-up will win BD2,000 while the third-placers will receive BD1,000.

In addition, there will be prizes for the best individual performers, including the best player, best goalkeeper and the top scorer. Furthermore, there will be an award for the team that displays the best fair play.

"Ramadan is a time of togetherness, and what better way than sports to get the whole nation together," said Zain Bahrain's corporate communications manager Samya Hussain.

"The people of Bahrain are passionate about football and we feel it is the perfect opportunity for corporations to further nurture team-spirit and bonding among their employees. It is going to provide much-needed excitement to the Ramadan evenings."
