AWQAF and the Minor Affairs Foundation and GROHE sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to fit GROHE’s sustainable fittings in the UAE’s first eco-friendly mosque.
The MoU is part of the regional implementation of GROHE’s water sustainability project – ‘the GROHE Green Mosque initiative.’
The ‘Khalifa Al Tajer Mosque’ apart from being eco-friendly, will also be the largest mosque in Dubai. The mosque will be built to accommodate 3,500 worshippers and constructed over an area of 105,000 square feet. The mosque is expected to be completed in 2014.
The mosque is said to feature solar panels and the recycling and purifying of ablution water for irrigation and washroom supply.
Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary-General at AMAF said, “With GROHE’s sustainable technology we are looking forward to reducing the amount of excess water consumption that many mosques experience. GROHE’s fittings will enable the mosque to make considerable water savings to the benefit of both the mosque and the environment, and we look forward to its completion.”
