Samsung Electronics Levant gives back to local community

In-line with its strategy to support the local communities and its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Samsung Electronics Levant, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, organized a volunteer day for Samsung employees and others to donate a day of their time to renovate the Insan School.

As part of its larger global initiative "Hope for Children", Samsung aims to shed the light on the importance of less fortunate children's education and development. Approximately 40 volunteers spent the day painting the school, which is expected to benefit more than 150 students. Samsung Electronics Levant provided the funding for the paint, renovated the computer lab with brand new furniture, Samsung laptops and printers, in addition to providing a Samsung projector for the theater room.

Talking about the importance of this activity and the impact it is expected to have, Mr. Bumsuk Hong, President of Samsung Electronics Levant, said, "Such projects offer us a unique opportunity to give back to the local community we both live and work in. Brightening the day of the students and offering them a positive and cheerful learning environment makes it all worth this investment. The 'Hope for Children' initiative proves Samsung's commitment to supporting the development of children in local communities especially in the area of education, so for us choosing to work with the Insan School was a natural choice."

The Insan School, by Insan Association, offers an educational program to underprivileged children, who are being neglected by society and for a variety of reasons are cut off from education. After spending one or two years at Insan School, the aim is to integrate them into an official school or a vocational training center. With its holistic approach Insan does not only provide education but on a case by case basis offers psychological, social and legal support to the children as well as their parents and families.
