RasGas, QP landmarks lit up to mark World Autism Day

RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) lit up the company’s headquarters building with blue lights on Monday night to mark World Autism Awareness Day. The company’s gesture was in connection with the campaign organised by the State of Qatar to support World Autism Awareness Day.
“RasGas strongly believes in its responsibility to the community and worthy causes and we hope that this will help shine a light and raise awareness of autism in Qatar and in the world,” said RasGas acting managing director Hamad Mubarak al-Muhannadi.
“We hope that through this participation we can demonstrate our never ending commitment to people with special needs. RasGas actively supports activities that promote a healthier society and the company regularly participates in international health awareness campaigns as this is an integral part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR),” he said.
“RasGas regards social responsibility as integral to its business and implements a strong proactive CSR programme which is aligned to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development strategy 2011-16,” said al-Muhannadi.
RasGas has dedicated 2012 as the Year of Health in order to raise awareness on the importance of living a healthier lifestyle. On February 14, more than 2,000 employees and their families joined the RasGas activities organised as part of the first Qatar National Sports Day in collaboration with Aspire Zone Foundation, marking the beginning of the year-long activities inspired by its 2012 Year of Health campaign.
The day was also observed at the Qatar Petroleum. “Upon the directives of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, the administration directorate issued a circular to illuminate three QP buildings with special lighting”, said a QP official.
The QP headquarters, the Trans World Towers and the Al Dana Tower were lighted to mark the occasion.
QP Public Relations manager Sultan Abdulla Ali al-Abdulla said: “QP is proud to provide this symbolic participation which we hope will shed light on the autism and hope it will promote awareness and education on this disease among the community members.”
