Held at Lusail, the interactive session aimed at attracting young Qataris into the industry allowed Qatari students to learn about engineering in practice. Two RasGas representatives provide an overview on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector and the multiple career opportunities offered in the field.
"RasGas recognises that engaging Qatari secondary school students from all over Qatar to learn about engineering is critical for the long-term development of their future educational and professional careers. Sessions like these are part of a larger scheme for attracting the best and brightest Qatari talent to the LNG sector in support of the 2030 National Vision's Human and economic Development pillars," said Abdulrahman Al-Mannai, Learning and Development manager at RasGas.
The LIEP, a joint programme between QU's College of Engineering and major local business players, provides talented Qatari high school students with technical experience, as well as raising awareness on industry requirements through a mentoring and skills transfer scheme with the support of sponsor companies such as RasGas.
RasGas renewed support for this diverse training educational initiative for the 4th consecutive year in December 2012. The LIEP is designed to instill an interest in the areas of scientific, experimental and research skills among high school students in Qatar. The long-term education and skills transfer scheme culminates in the construction and test drive of real racing cars at Lusail International Circuit.
