In a step that reinforces its commitment to help the underprivileged sections of the community, Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) - one of the fastest-growing and most cost-effective free trade zones in the UAE - held an event today to support the Ajman-based Al Ihsan Charity Center's 'School Bag Campaign' for orphans.

As part of the unique community outreach initiative, RAK FTZ is supporting the educational needs of over 100 orphans from the charity centre by sponsoring its 'School Bag Campaign'.

The children, aged between six and 11, of different nationalities across the UAE, have been provided with money as well as school supplies including stationery, notebooks and other study materials.

The initiative is the brainchild of the RAK FTZ PR & Media and Human Resources departments, involving a campaign to collect voluntary donations from RAK FTZ employees, to encourage a culture of giving within the organisation. The free zone employees distributed the bags to the orphans and handed over the money to buy other school necessities at a special function held this morning.

In her comments on the unique initiative, Maryam Al Murshedi Al Shehhi, Deputy Director General of RAK FTZ, said: "At RAK FTZ, we have taken upon ourselves the responsibility to make a positive difference in the lives of the less fortunate people and increase their access to education. This initiative to support Al Ihsan Charity Center is a small step in this direction. We are continuously identifying new and greater opportunities to reach out to the needy within the UAE, and extending meaningful support to uplift their lives."

RAK FTZ has always played a pivotal role in supporting charities and other social organisations in Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE as part of its CSR campaign to give back to the community and support projects that are beneficial for the society.

"We value the community in which we operate, and supporting such a cause is an ongoing commitment to invest in significant initiatives that contribute to the social welfare of our society. Within the scope of this CSR strategy, RAK FTZ plans to announce more events and activities very soon," added Al Shehhi.
