Play for Life to raise awareness of diabetes

Dubai: Injazat Data Systems will once again use sports as a platform to raise awareness of diabetes through its participation in the ‘Play for Life' corporate football tournament to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from August 14-18.

The latest edition of the annual competition organised by the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) in Abu Dhabi will pit 16 teams of more than 300 players who will be cheered by more than 3,000 spectators.

Greater awareness of diabetes, a chronic disease that affects more than 20 per cent of the UAE's population, ranks high among Injazat's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Exercise is vital to controlling the glucose levels and maintaining the overall well-being of diabetics, which is why Injazat encourages those afflicted with the condition to take up football and other types of sports.

ICLDC will also include a two-week ‘Play for Life Women's Fitness Challenge' running until August 18 that will promote the health benefits of sustainable exercise.
