Omran to pilot income generating ‘Zaree’ scheme

Omran is laying the foundation for the launch of a pioneering Corporate Social Responsibility programme that aims to empower and self-support communities in the regions where the company operates.
Entitled ‘Zaree’, the income generating programme offers a window into the world of Oman’s famed hospitality by demonstrating local traditions and values to tourists through a rich spread of diverse activities in Wilayat Khasab. Led by a group of local women, “Zaree” will sell special packages to small groups of female tourists who wish to visit Khasab Castle and embark on a cultural experience of a lifetime.
With an estimated number of 48 cruise ships expected to visit Khasab Port between November and March 2013, each carrying between 400 and 4,000 passengers, ‘Zaree’ is envisioned to become the welcoming face of Omani tradition and culture as tourist embark on their journey of discovery in Musandam.
Omran officials said that the excitement is reaching a feverish pitch and that final preparations are now underway to ensure that the programme results in a sustainable and authentic tourism product that perfectly expresses the heart and charm of the Omani people while delivering economic value to local communities.
