Omran bags CSR trophy at CW Awards - Oman

Omran secured the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year Award at last night’s Construction Week Awards – Oman.

Judges were quick to describe the company as this year’s clear winner, applauding its work in creating jobs for Omanis, thus making an important and valuable contribution to Oman.

In 2011, Omran instigated an income generating project entitled, ‘Intajee’, to empower families residing in Al Batinah to improve their livelihoods by selling locally grown produce through existing micro-businesses. As a result, the program has helped farmers effectively harvest, package and label their goods, thereby strengthening their presence in the market.

Abdul Wahid Al Farsi, company VP Corporate Affairs told CW, "It is our goal to help local communities which we believe is very rewarding. The recent project of the Asian Beach Games in Musanad allowed us to engage the community, help them create job opportunities and improve the livelihood here. Supporting them to package and market their farm produce helped them generate an income and boost the economy of the Sultanate.

The award to Omran was one of 13 presented at a gala event held to honour, reward and recognise the achievements of the Omani construction industry.

Winners from the Construction Week Awards – Oman, which was sponsored by Famco, will get a further chance to claim success at the GCC edition of the Construction Week Awards, to be held in Dubai, in December.
