In keeping with its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility National Bank of Oman (NBO) has, in association with AIESEC Oman, under AIESEC’s ‘NBO Ambassador Programme’, sponsored four young Omani Interns, on a six-week internship placement in Lebanon.
The internships are with Arabnet, a Lebanon based organisation, offering internships in Marketing, Communications, IT and Social Media.
AIESEC is a global non-profit youth organisation that develops leadership capabilities through their internal leadership programmes and engages students and graduates in international student exchange and internship programmes, for profit and non-profit organisations. NBO’s sponsorship will help to subsidise travel, administrative and living expenses.
Antonio Lobo, AIESEC Oman’s Vice-President for External Relations and the Interns, recently paid a courtesy visit to NBO. “We commend the relationship shared between NBO and AIESEC over the past three years. AIESEC is indeed truly grateful for NBO’s support as it provides the interns opportunities to enhance their professional work experience. They would not have been able to achieve this independently. This is a great opportunity for them as they will benefit significantly from their time spent in Lebanon,” said Antonio.
The internships were advertised through social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. Members of AIESEC interviewed potential candidates and then selected the most suitable ones.
Aisha al Kharusi, NBO’s Head of CSR and Corporate Communications said: “NBO is proud to once again have AIESEC as a strategic non-profit partner. This year the bank has gone a step further and looked into supporting Omani youth by empowering them to experience a sense of independence.
“The internship will give them the opportunity to test drive a career which they might not have been exposed to or simply network with peers and share best practices while accumulating new skills. Ultimately, the internship should give them the experience to gain a “real world” perspective on an occupation of choice.”
