Nakhweh launches Ramadan campaign to encourage volunteerism and signs sponsorship agreements with Aramex and Umniah

Nakhweh, a Jordanian non-profit organization with the aim to enable volunteerism, social entrepreneurship and CSR culture in the Arab World, has launched a Ramadan campaign to encourage volunteering among Arab youth.

The campaign's objective is to spread news and information about social activities taking place during the holy month and to help match volunteers to those activities.

The campaign comes after the launch of the new Nakhweh website which connects volunteers with volunteering opportunities. The new site presents new services to facilitate communication between volunteers and those who are hiring them. As part of the enhancements, the website now enables users to write reviews about their volunteering experiences. The launch of the Nakhweh blog (blog.nakhweh.org) is a new feature aiming to document information about social activities in the Arab world that are carried out by non-profit organizations, activists and companies as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

Nakhweh employs the power of the web to reach out to the largest number of beneficiaries through the organization's website and its blog in addition to its social media channels on Twitter and Facebook. The organization has launched various campaigns in collaboration with different parties to activate the role of social media in encouraging young people to engage in the development process. "Sho El Fekra?" was one recent success for Nakhweh and was implemented twice to urge youth to come up with entrepreneurial ideas that have social impact.

As part of its ongoing engagement with the community and businesses, Nakhweh signed annual partnership agreements with Aramex, the global logistics and transportation solutions provider, as a sponsor and Umniah, the mobile service provider, as a telecom partner.

In this regard, the founder and CEO of Nakhweh, Kamel Al-Asmar, said, "The agreements come to embody the continuous support provided by the two companies since we launched Nakhweh back in 2009. The support we have been receiving from Aramex and Umniah has been critical and extremely valuable in meeting our objectives."

Al-Asmar added, "Companies have a big role that cannot be ignored in the development process. Private sector is one of the development triangle vertices along with civil society organizations and the governmental sector."

"We are extremely pleased to continue our partnership with Nakhwah and we look forward to working closely with the management team, and the other partners, to help them grow and expand their impact across the region," said Raji Hattar, Chief Sustainability and Compliance Officer of Aramex. "While we fully support Nakhwah's mission to capitalize on the potential of the Arab youth, and help them become proactive change-makers, we were particularly drawn to Nakhwah by their proactive use of social media to promote and enable volunteerism, and social entrepreneurship."

Umniah's CEO, Ihab Hinnawi, commented, "Strategic collaborations with the right partners generate positive impact, supporting the youth segment in our society while empowering their role in our community. Umniah's partnership with Nakhweh reflects our deeply rooted belief in the potential of our youth, and we will offer them our full support to achieve their goals by spreading the culture of volunteerism and social entrepreneurship."

It is worth mentioning that Nakhweh is one of the initiatives that received the grant of the King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation and Achievement during the World Economic Forum, which was held at the Dead Sea in October 2011. The founder and CEO of Nakhweh has also been selected as an Ashoka Fellow, the global prestigious fellowship for social entrepreneurs, back in April 2012.
