Mashreq-Qatar launches forestation campaign

Mashreq Qatar, a leading financial institution in the region, took part in the Ministry of Environment and Qatar Green Centre's Forestation Campaign for a greener Qatar. The initiative involved participation of 25 Mashreq employees planting a variety of saplings at the Al Bayan, Al Makhiya and Al Ahnaf Schools.

By encouraging the cultivation of indigenous flora appropriate to the local environment, the campaign is helping to promote nationwide collaboration across several sectors whilst supporting the wider initiatives of the Ministry of Environment.

Ayesha Al Kuwari, Human Resources Manager at Mashreq Qatar, commented, "We are interested in championing green initiatives that will assist Qatar to address long-term environmental issues, particularly pollution. Such socio-environmental initiatives are in line with Mashreq's corporate social responsibility agenda for 2012, a central pillar in the ongoing engagement of our employees, which will help promote sustainable practices, including optimizing the use of energy, water and recycling waste."

Mashreq Qatar has been leading environmental activities aimed at contributing to Qatar's emergence as a green corporate citizen and to help promote a volunteering culture among its employees.

Mashreq is one of the UAE's leading financial institutions and the region. Founded in 1967 as Bank of Oman, the bank has played a pioneering role in the industry, particularly in retail banking.
