Grand Millennium Dubai lends a hand to local community and charitable causes

Living up to its reputation of a socially responsible hotel that cares for the welfare of the community it operates in, the Grand Millennium Dubai recently sponsored and supported three incredible community welfare projects and charitable causes.

The hotel sponsored a Mount Everest Base Camp Trek for a batch of students from English College Dubai, donating the much needed sum of money to cover some of the costs of the trip. Reaching their destination, the students proudly sported Grand Millennium Dubai t-shirts provided by the hotel during this year.

General Manager Peter Mansourian said, "Being in the hospitality business we are well aware of what it means to care for people and the community. Dubai is a vibrant city teeming with upwardly mobile youngsters so we have sought to focus on the student community in the emirate. Each of the events we have sponsored is centred on specific concerns of today's youngsters - the spirit of adventure and physical well-being in mountain trekkers, the desire to compete, achieve and learn in spelling bee participants and the passion to thrive of students with special needs."

Grand Millennium Dubai supported the cause of Al Noor Centre for Children with special needs in Dubai by setting up special food stations on the annual open family day of the organisation. It was the second such event to be sponsored by the hotel during this year.

The hotel also supported the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children for the second consecutive year during the holy month of Ramadan by arranging a sumptuous Iftar for 50 people.
The charity aspect is the prominent focus in the hotel's CSR activities, especially raising funds for children with special needs. The hotel has been consistently supporting events and programmes of the Al Noor Centre for the past several years.

According to Mr Mansourian, "For us the corporate social responsibility means behaving ethically, treating our employees with respect, minimising our impact on the environment and most important improving the lives of those in the communities around us."

The Grand Millennium Dubai was also one of the sponsors of America's famous Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship this year, hosting the winner for a stay at the hotel.

The 343-room Grand Millennium Dubai offers an outstanding guest experience at a competitive price to both international and regional visitors with its range of leisure and meeting facilities, restaurants and bars, swimming pool and more.
