Etisalat hosts skill assessment sessions for over 300 nationals enrolled at Tanmia

Etisalat Academy in collaboration with the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority - Tanmia, announced that it hosted assessment sessions for over 300 national jobseekers on March 14.

The initiative reflects Etisalat's continuing commitment to undertake its national and social responsibility, with the aim of supporting the government's Emiratisation efforts.

Assessment sessions were conducted in three batches, with each batch hosting 100 jobseekers registered with Tanmia. The computer-based assessment sessions were designed to test jobseekers' skills and abilities and understand their career preferences. Tanmia and Etisalat also provided each participant with a detailed report assessing results and analyzing responses to test questions.

Etisalat's hosting of the sessions is in line with its continuing commitment to collaborate with all organizations that support the Emiratisation process and contribute towards developing national human resources.

Over the past 35 years, Etisalat has become a preferred employer of nationals. Currently, over 36 per cent of Etisalat's total work force is made up of nationals, while nationals in the executive management at the Corporation make up 90 per cent of the total number of such positions.

Commenting on the skills assessment initiative, Ali Al Ahmed, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Etisalat, said: "Etisalat's collaboration with Tanmia is concomitant with its ongoing strategy of harnessing the Corporation's resources to support the Emiratisation policy and to enable nationals to acquire skills that help them make a significant contribution to the community."

Noora Al Bedur, Employment & Skills Development Center Manager, Tanmia, said: "Tanmia's vision is to facilitate the development of qualified national human resources, who are then ready to take on positions in the private and public sectors. To achieve this, Tanmia constantly seeks strategic partnerships with the country's leading corporate and government institutions. In this regard, I am pleased to note Etisalat's growing relationship with Tanmia."

"The UAE is today witnessing increasing participation of nationals in all economic sectors, and this has only been possible due to the consistent efforts of public and private organizations that have adapted their skill sourcing solutions and allowed local resources to develop competencies relevant to their line of work," she added.

The jobseekers' assessment sessions were conducted by Center for Career Guidance and Planning at Tanmia, which works to assess the strengths and weaknesses of jobseekers and assist them in building career skills important in the local context.

Established in 2000, Etisalat Academy is a leading regional training and qualifying center providing business, advanced technologies and human resource development programs for the telecommunications and information technology sectors. In 2011, Etisalat Academy trained more than 1,400 employees from Etisalat in addition to training 2,325 employees through different specialized courses organized within the country and 423 employees at its specialized external centers. Total number of training days in the last year alone reached 73,800 out of which 32,500 days or 44% of the total number of training days were dedicated for national employees.
