ENOC's Ramadan activities focus on charity and community welfare

Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and its various businesses are organising a diverse array of charitable activities that are aimed at promoting community welfare and bringing a smile to the faces of the underprivileged.

With a focus on highlighting the values of charity, tolerance, patience and solidarity that are associated with Ramadan, ENOC will organise a month-long calendar of activities - all placing emphasis on the community.

Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, said: "The Holy Month of Ramadan offers us the invaluable opportunity not only to look inward and evolve as better individuals, but also to observe the world around us with genuine compassion. Over the years, ENOC has observed the Holy Month with a diverse array of activities that are aimed at promoting the values associated with Ramadan, as well as to foster solidarity, brotherhood and camaraderie among one and all. This year, we have a larger calendar of events that highlight ENOC as a socially responsible organisation committed to societal welfare. These activities underline our corporate citizenship to be actively involved in humanitarian initiatives that make a difference to society."

For the third consecutive year, ENOC is taking part in Al Ajer initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. Al Ajer aims to promote the values of forgiveness and tolerance in the community. To support it, ENOC will display the banners of Al Ajer on the sliding doors of the ENOC/EPPO service stations highlighting the key aspects of the campaign.

As is now the norm and a proud tradition that was pioneered in 2002, ENOC is also organising its 'Dates & Water' campaign, in partnership with Alokozay, whereby packs containing dates, water and prayer beads will be distributed free to motorists at all ENOC/EPPCO service stations 30 minutes before Iftar.

In community-oriented initiatives, especially to support the underprivileged, Emirates Gas (EMGAS), a business division of ENOC, will distribute over 300 LPG refills free to selected families in the Northern Emirates. The initiative is being held in partnership with Dar Al Ber Society.

Tasjeel, the UAE's one stop shop for all vehicle testing and registration needs, will roll out its 'Dirham Wa Bas' campaign, with one dirham for every car registered at its sites going towards 'Make A Wish Foundation'. ENOC has also joined hands with Bait Al Khair to place kiosks and clothes donation boxes at ENOC Headquarters in Dubai, Tasjeel sites and selected ENOC/EPPCO service stations enabling the public to be involved in charity initiatives.

ENOC's staff members, under the company's organisation-wide TarabuT volunteering programme, will support the Dubai Chamber's 'Adopt a Camp' campaign, to prepare care packages that will be distributed to weary workers. These packs will include a three-month supply of toiletries, one month's supply of food and other essentials. The volunteers will also visit the Senior Citizen's Centre to spend time with the elderly, fostering the spirit of compassion and solidarity.

To highlight the message of Ramadan, ENOC will also host its annual Ramadan Lecture series to be deliveredby prominent personalities. The lectures are open to all ENOC employees and will be held at the ENOC Auditorium every week throughout the Holy Month. Renowned Muslim scholars will address the audience on various beliefs, customs and practices related to the Holy Month.

ENOC is committed to supporting the society through a number of initiatives that underline its corporate social responsibility. In the past, the organisation has supported Bait Al Khair Society, The Red Crescent Authority and Dar Al Ber Society, and is at the forefront in promoting autism awareness, in addition to raising funds for the Dubai Autism Centre's new building.
