Economic Zones World introduces CSR Policy Manual as a reference and guide for all stakeholders

Economic Zones World (EZW) has recently launched a CSR Policy Manual which outlines EZW’s policies and ethics and serves as a reference for all its stakeholders.

The development of the CSR policy manual is in line with  EZW’s ongoing corporate governance and CSR programmes that tie in with the company’s policy of integrating CSR into its overall business model and honouring its social and environmental obligations.

Recognizing that its stakeholders are key to the future success of the business, EZW has introduced a manual to provide guidelines to its employees and management, to help them conduct their activities in the most appropriate way in dealing with the customers, partners, colleagues, community and other stakeholders; in accordance with its primary values and ethical standards. In addition to code of business ethics and standards, the manual also highlights Economic Zones World’s policies on health, safety and environment.

Dr. Eng. Hamad Al Hashemi, SVP, Corporate Communications said: “With the aim of fully integrating CSR values into our day-to-day operations we have developed a comprehensive CSR Manual that would help EZW employees deal with Corporate Social Responsibility related issues more efficiently. To make this activity evolving we will be reviewing and updating this manual from time to time to ensure we keep pace with the world trends in CSR initiatives and activities. I am sure with our collective talent and energy; we will remain at the forefront of CSR initiatives, not only in the region but across the globe.”

The company’s CSR strategy and multi-pronged approach targets Corporate Governance, Workplace, Marketplace, Environment and Community. Various pre-planned activities have been undertaken in each of these areas. EZW’s Workplace and Marketplace initiatives include the “We Care” programme, under which it organises Diabetes campaign, Nursery survey, National Day and Eid celebrations etc. as well as CSR Awareness & Networking programmes involving employees, stakeholders and partners. The free zone operator’s Environment initiatives include Paper Recycling campaigns, Planting drives while its Community initiatives include work placement and joint activities with community development organisations.

EZW has been preparing annual reports on the CSR activities it conducts during the year since its inception. In order to become compatible globally it is now changing its reporting format based on GRI standards (Global Reporting Initiative), which is one of the world's most prevalent standards for sustainability reporting.

In addition to Jafza, currently one of the world’s fastest growing free zones, Economic Zones World’s portfolio also includes Gazeley, a leading provider of sustainable logistics and industrial space; TechnoPark, a research driven business and industrial park; and Dubai Auto Zone, a comprehensive market place for the Auto industry.
