Du launches runs Work Skills scheme for second year

UAE-based operator Du announced the launch of the second consecutive year of its Work Skills programme at the UAE Careers 2012 fair at Dubai International Convention Centre. The Work Skills programme will benefit 300 Emirati students from universities and colleges around the UAE, offering know-how in essential vocational proficiencies. Created as part of Du's Emiratisation and Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, Work Skills is the first initiative of its kind in the UAE, with 120 students having graduated from the programme in 2011. Participating students undergo training to learn skills that are essential in the workplace, giving them a boost to their future careers with no obligation to Du in return. Subjects taught include Interpersonal Skills, Preparation as a Job Seeker, Think on Your Feet, Power Reading Skills, Business Writing for Professionals, Business Etiquette, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Interview Techniques, Settling into a Job, Effective Team Working, Communication at the Workplace and Succeeding at Job Search and Job Interviewing.
