DMCC staff to join Walk for Education 2013

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), a Government of Dubai authority, announced that it will support Dubai Cares' Walk for Education 2013 by sponsoring all DMCC staff to participate in the three kilometre walk.

This initiative is part of DMCC's 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility strategy which focuses on promoting safe and accessible education for children and follows DMCC's recent Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai Cares to adopt a school in Gaza.

Walk for Education 2013 will bring together UAE locals and expatriates to walk three kilometres along Jumeirah Road in support of the millions of children across the world who face difficulties in getting to school every day.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC, said:
"Following the MoU DMCC signed last year to adopt a school in Gaza, DMCC remains committed towards supporting activities that aim to break the cycle of poverty through education.

Walk for Education 2013 provides the UAE community with a wonderful opportunity to unite in support of the millions of children worldwide who face immense challenges when attempting to attend school. We thank Dubai Cares for organising this inspirational initiative and we encourage all of our colleagues and friends to support this cause which will improve the lives of children struggling to succeed while in the throes of poverty."

The DMCC and Dubai Cares MoU, which was signed on 28 November 2012, at DMCC's headquarters in Almas Tower, JLT, confirms DMCC's and its employees' commitment to improving access to early childhood quality education for children (aged 3-6) in Gaza by rehabilitating an Early Childhood Development school.

The Walk will take place on Friday February 8 2013, at 9:00am at Jumeirah Beach Park. There will be entertainment and activities for all at Jumeirah Beach Park and UAE residents can register onsite on the day of the event between 8:00am and 9:00am.
