Crowne Plaza Duqm taking corporate social responsibility

Crowne Plaza Duqm in Oman, part of Intercontinental Hotels Group is taking a firm stance on environmental issues by implementing an initiative to help maintain the ecosystem within the Al Wusta region.

Duqm is a port city located in Oman 600km from Muscat, currently undergoing a major development to increase tourism within the new established economic free zone. It is the thriving home for many animals and with an estimated 70,000 birds using Oman beaches as their feeding ground.

The initiative was launched early this month with team members being encouraged to go out and pick up garbage from the surrounding beach area of the hotel.

This milestone for Crowne Plaza Duqm is set to pave the way for a new era of corporate social responsibility and it is hoped that other companies situated in Duqm will join the effort to keep the up and coming region free from any litter and ecological damage.

Ali Salih, General Manager stated that it is part of our responsibility to contribute to society.  He believes that it is important to encourage corporate social responsibility to keep the environment surrounding Duqm uncontaminated. He believes it is of upmost importance to ensure the natural beauty of the region stays clean for all to enjoy.
