Setting up of Bridges establishment, as per the agreement recently signed among Sohar Aluminium, Vale Oman and Orpic as a non-profit organisation that cares for the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes is to reflect the commitment of these companies to promote and develop local community.

Dr Hamad bin Hashim Al Dhahab, CEO of Bridges, said that the incorporation of this establishment came as a culmination of the steady efforts by the three companies to establish the first of its kind organisation that nurture social responsibility.

In a statement to ONA, he said that the CSR is a commitment by the private sector to take part in the socio-economic development process for the local communities in a bid to ensure better life and find an added value for the society in a number of fields including education, employment, environment and health.

This commitment complements the role played by the government to spread development and progress. He added that bridges establishment has two unique things that make it different from any other organisation:

It is the outcome of cooperation among three organisations that operate in three different fields and has three different production lines and social responsibility systems.

Despite such difference, the three companies managed to join their expertise and available social responsibility resources to create a unique experience. The selection of the projects to be implemented will be left to the local community through its representatives at the board of directors for this organisation.

The board of directors comprises representatives of the local community and the government, in addition to CEOs of these firms.
