Bank Sohar supports 'Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities'

Demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Oman community, Bank Sohar was delighted to be able to support the Association of Early intervention for Children with Disabilities.

The support in the form of a donation was handed over to Mrs. Sabah Al Bahlani, the president of the association, by Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM, Human Resources and Corporate Support of Bank Sohar, at the Bank Sohar Head Office. 

Commenting on the donation, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki stated that, "It was the pleasure of Bank Sohar to once again be supporting Association of Early intervention for Children with. The bank and its staff have been closely associated with charitable organisation since 2009, and we look forward to providing further support for the children's on-going needs in the future."

The initiative from Bank Sohar is aligned with its many on-going social activities that place it at the heart of the local community. It brings to light Bank Sohar's commitment to its corporate social responsibility and its dedication to community service, through its continuous support and sponsorship of many similar associations. Especially those that aspire to support children with disabilities, develop their talents and facilitate their integration into the community. 

The Bank's operation has always been governed by its spirit of social solidarity and direct interaction with the Omani society, providing moral and financial support to various underprivileged segments in the community. 

Furthermore, the bank strongly encourages other companies and financial institutions to provide financial support to such associations and in turn provide them with much needed funding for their valuable activities and services.

"Each and every child is a vital part of our community regardless of their unique abilities or physical attributes; and therefore cannot be neglected. Supporting the good works of causes like the Association of Early intervention for Children with Disabilities allows those children to grow up with a good framework of support and be an effective and valuable member of our society," added Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki.

Mrs. Sabah Al Bahlani greatly appreciative of Bank Sohar for their initiatives and continuous efforts in encouraging and developing social work. 

She added, "I would like to thank Bank Sohar for their continual support. This donation will provide us with the support we need to cover the association's administrative costs for 2013. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the bank for their continuous support to our association's activities and bringing attention to our precious children."

The Association, which was established in March 2000, is the only center in Oman to provide children, from birth to the age of six, specialised programs that cover all developmental areas. 

Since its inception the Association's philosophy has been to continually develop and upgrade its programmes and services to build an ever closer partnership between parents of children with disabilities, which is a key element that determines a successful integration of the children as valuable contributing members of the community. 

The centre provides the children with a comprehensive early intervention program that covers social, academic and therapeutic services with the objective of having children enrol in regular schools or minimize their disabilities and to ensure a better quality of life for them and their families.

Since its inception Bank Sohar has shown a strong commitment towards its corporate responsibility and involvement in the community. The Bank has always acted and encouraged in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) related activities as well as activities related to general causes. 

In fact, Bank Sohar has received a number of awards and titles for their numerous CSR activities, including the 'Best Corporate Social Responsibility Bank Oman 2013' award by renowned UK based Global Banking & Finance Review.
