Bank Muscat, Lulu to train 40 Omani youth

Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, as part of its Jesr Al Mustaqbal (Bridge to Future) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has joined hands with LuLu Hypermarket to equip 40 young Omanis with the necessary skills to develop their careers and contribute to national development.
On successful completion of a 3-month training programme, the Omani youth, including women, from low-income families in Dakhiliyah and Dhofar governorates will be absorbed by LuLu for various jobs in its outlets.
Salim Al Kaabi, DGM – Human Resources, said: “As part of Bank Muscat’s CSR commitment, a comprehensive plan is in place to provide vocational training to Omani youth, especially from low-income segments, to help them develop workplace skills. The bank attaches importance in supporting people with special needs. The training programme is aimed at enabling low-income citizens to gain employable skills and overcome difficulties they face in career development.”
Salim al Kaabi added: “The youth represent the future of Oman and the training programme is aimed at empowering them to actively participate in nation-building. Bank Muscat is very sensitive to the needs of people and keen on enriching their lives. The training programme is yet another affirmation that Bank Muscat is a true partner in supporting people with special needs. Such programmes help in achieving a better future for marginalised sections in community.”
The training in Dakhiliyah will be conducted by Nizwa Cultural Institute and in Dhofar by Dhofar Institute of Technology. The trainees will undergo 3 months training in accounting and customer care to become proficient as cashiers, counter supervisors and customer service staff. Upon successful completion of the training course, the candidates will be employed by Lulu Hypermarket in its Dhofar and Dakhiliyah outlets.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Bank Muscat is a commitment to contribute towards sustainable development by working closely with local communities with the aim of improving living standards in a manner that serves the national economy and development process at the same time.
