Al-Jazeera Paints sponsors green buildings scientific conference in Saudi Arabia

Recently in Jeddah, the producer of high quality paints in Middle East and neighboring regions, Al- Jazeera Paints Company, has sponsored a scientific conference under the title 'Applying Green Buildings in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia' which was organized by the Jordanian Engineers Union Liaison Committee in Jeddah, the Saudi Engineers Commission and the Saudi Council for Green Buildings.

The general manager of Al-Jazeera Paints, Abdullah Al Rumieh, stressed on the importance of spreading the culture of green buildings and concepts of sustainable environment as well as spreading awareness among people in KSA for its importance pressing on the importance of applying health and safety standards so that residents and painters enjoy a healthy indoor environment.

Mr Al Rumieh explained that Al-Jazeera Paints Company received last year the Green Seal certificate for sustainable and green buildings which is a requirement to receive the certificate of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Al-Jazeera Paints Company is the first paints company outside United States to receive such certificate, a step which is considered as an international recognition for Al-Jazeera Paints Company's ability to address the current challenges of the 21st Century, and also, it distinguishes this company for being able to find creative solutions to preserve a bright future for environment in general and for a living and working environment in particular.

Mr Al Rumieh noted that receiving the Green Seal certificate is an unprecedented step for his company which tells how the company is complying with the most recent and updated international environmental standards and regulations, and, how the company is holding social and environmental responsibilities to protect health and environment as well as adopting the international trends in this regards which all helped the company to achieve local, regional and international credibility and trust.

Mr Rumieh explained that Green Seal certificate made it possible for Al-Jazeera Paints Company to find business in building construction in KSA where constructors follow the international environment friendly standards, regulations and technology. He also considered the compliance with green building standards in many projects such Princess Noura University in KSA and in other Arab regions as well as holding conferences and symposiums about green building will have positive impact on the environment in KSA and the Arab World.

Mr Rumieh is expecting that there will be a huge trend towards applying sustainable green buildings as architectures, engineers, experts and contractors are adopting green building technologies. He also pointed that environment friendly paints are being used in residential buildings, hospitals, universities, shopping centers, airports and in different types of buildings.

According to Mr Rumieh, one of Al-Jazeera Paints Company's strategies is to provide customers with products of unique and high quality which are in compliance with all environmental standards and at best prices. The company is aiming at preserving its social and environmental responsibility through its paints products, Mr Rumieh explained, noting that in order to achieve this goal, to be creative and progressive, to offer high quality and better price products and to reduce the cost of production the company has to continuously conduct researches in its special labs in the company. 

In the light of its slogan "Quality and Beauty", Al-Jazeera Paints Company, as its General Manger explained, is using the state-of-art technologies and follow the best global practices in order to keep up with the scientific development by using raw material which is environment friendly and has no impact on people's health and by producing paints of very low volatile organic compound with a volatility rate less than of what is permitted by international environment organizations and commissions.

During the conference, Al-Jazeera's regional manager of West Area in KSA, Faisal Sabra the engineer, lectured about the importance of environment friendly paints and made a presentation about Al-Jazeera's green building paints pointing that such paints do not contain harmful chemicals and have a low rate of volatile organic compound which he actually said to have a near zero rate of volatility. In addition, he pointed to Al-Jazeera's product known as "Al-Jazeera Nofal", a paint characterized of being easy to clean in addition to its deluxe feature of giving walls brightness, elegance, and dimensional vastness. Mr Sabra also made a presentation of a number of Al-Jazeera Paints Company's weather resistant products.

The engineer Sultan Faden, the head of the Saudi Preparatory Committee for Green Buildings, spoke about the changes that took place in architecture and building construction due to the massive emigration to cities. Mr Faden also presented the regulations and applications of green buildings in KSA. From his side, Basem Zahrawi, the head of the scientific committee in the Jordanian Engineers Union Liaison Committee in Jeddah congratulated Al-Jazeera Paints Company for being a leading company to receive Green Seal certificate for green buildings. On the other hand, the engineer Talal Samarghandi, the head of Engineering Committee at the Commercial and Industrial Council in Jeddah, who is also the vice-president of Architecture Department in the Saudi Architects Commission and a member of the Saudi Preparatory Committee for Green Buildings, called for diffusing the concept of green buildings highlighting the efforts of the Council in this regards.
