Staff members of Al Hilal Bank along with their families recently trooped to the town of Al Samha in Abu Dhabi to participate in the 12th Clean Up UAE event organized by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Municipality. The volunteers helped clean up parts of the adjacent desert alongside various other civic-minded businesses and schools.

Around three tones of garbage were collected through the initial phase of the EEG initiative, which covers the areas of Al Samha, Mussaffah, Al Bateen, Zafranah and Al Wathba in its Abu Dhabi leg. All seven emirates will take part in the cleanup drive which makes its final stop in Dubai on December 12, 2013.

Al Hilal bank staff and their families participated in the event as part of the bank’s ‘Go Green’ advocacy of promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. Known for its slogan of ‘the orange bank that thinks green,’ Al Hilal actively participates in major environmental events such as ‘Earth Hour’ and has launched various pioneering eco-friendly programs such as its ‘Go Dark’ initiative of promoting dark-themed computer screen savers and ‘eGrab,’ the world’s first electric-powered mobile banking fleet of buses.
