Al Ahli Holding Group launches CSR in Action in Jordan

After successfully implementing its latest program "CSR in Action" in the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon giving birth to 12 new CSR initiatives, Al Ahli Holding Group's Corporate Social Responsibility division and in partnership with the Business Development Center in Jordan (BDC), launched the "CSR in action Jordan" on the 4th of November 2012; an initiative that aims to develop and enhance the practices and awareness of CSR activities among practitioners and students in Jordan.

The "CSR in Action - Jordan" is bringing together 27 Jordanian participants from various Private Sectors, Academia, and Government entities, who are going to receive a special training related to the underlying principles of CSR, and then divided into teams and given the task of designing and implementing micro CSR projects that are more responsive to community needs.

Over the coming 10 days, and with the help of 24 trainers, speakers and mentors; the participants will undergo a number of intensive workshops about the concept of CSR, project planning and implementation, fundraising techniques in addition to other interpersonal skills and capacities required to create and sustainably run a CSR initiative.

Speaking of this initiative, Ms. Lina Hournai Director of CSR Al Ahli Holding Group said: "We are delighted to see our new born initiative grow up so quickly in less than a year to reach three different countries, and successfully engage more organizations and individuals in CSR practices."

"The results are quite satisfactory as we are witnessing how the new projects effect the local communities in both UAE and in Lebanon. For instance, the new CSR projects created by the participants in Lebanon were able to make a positive impact on more than 2,400 people in less than three months!" she added.

On his part, Mr. Nayef Stetieh, The President of Business Development Center, said: "Our cooperation with Al Ahli Holding Group in this initiative is a part of our support for social entrepreneurship and the creative initiatives of young people and businesses alike which contribute to the process of economic and social development."

He added that giving back to the community is a crucial value at BDC. "We always try to instill social responsibility and community service values in Jordanian youth. BDC believes that all organizations should inspire each other to make efforts that provide Jordanians with a better life all across Jordan. We are very proud to partner with different organizations to provide our Maharat youth with platforms that enhance their positive contribution to their communities and elevate their sense of responsibility towards their society."

The participants will then be divided into different teams that will spend the coming three months implementing their CSR projects; the teams will then present detailed reports to a prestigious judging committee to choose the winning project.

It is worth noting that Al Ahli Holding Group also works on a number of initiatives via its own Corporate Social Responsibility division focusing on the development, support and empowerment of Arab youth and on the dissemination of thought leadership in the region through different internship and fellowship programs.
