Ahlibank "A new depth in Corporate Social Responsibility"

A socially responsible entity is one which understands that Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment to behave ethically and contribute to the economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large. ahlibank has strived in the past few years to build on this ideal and has proven time and again that the bank is not only an entity in the social framework of the country but a responsible citizen that has contributed to different social, charitable and educational initiatives.

With the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan ahlibank has joined hands with the advocate association on a very unique initiative to help the underprivileged members of our society. "Removal of plight" is an initiative that aims at lending a helping hand to the under privileged members of the society that have been sentenced to jail time for defaults on payments such as rental, social payments and other obligations which they could not repay due to illness, job loss or simple misfortune. The advocates association has worked closely with the primary prosecution court to identify 15 cases that fall under the criteria of charitable cases, the association after identifying these cases sent out messages on social media websites such as twitter and facebook to increase awareness about their campaign and it caught the attention of the top management at ahlibank.

"Islam teaches us that if we help to do away with the plight of an individual in this life, then god will eliminate our plights on the day of resurrection. That is the main reason behind our effort to support this noble cause. ahlibank has always been at the fore front of supporting initiatives that stem from the core teachings of Islam and those which are aimed at improving the lives of the people who are not as fortunate as many of us and we are proud to be affiliated with the advocates association on this campaign." Commented Abdulaziz Al Balushi CEO of ahlibank.

The 15 cases which have been identified and approved by the primary court and the advocate association are all cases that pertain to individuals that cannot oblige with the sentence that has been issued by the courts, most of these cases involve individuals that are underprivileged or have some health issues and illnesses. The bank has pledged to repay the amounts as part of its CSR campaign for the holy month of Ramadhan insuring that these individuals will be released before the start of the holy month.
