Commercial Bank of Kuwait

Social responsibility has been among Commercial Bank of Kuwait's priorities since its establishment in June 19, 1960. From this standpoint, Commercial Bank of Kuwait followed a balanced strategy by devoting its efforts and resources to serve the society, participate in its development, provide employment opportunities and training, and protect the environment in order to preserve Kuwait's natural resources.

This is clearly demonstrated through the Bank's generous donations to the social care centers and its contribution to social activities, awareness campaigns, educational and cultural events and sports activities. In addition to that, CBK has a prominent participation and presence in conferences and seminars organized in Kuwait and abroad, in which the Bank usually presents research papers on the issues and topics discussed in the conference. Commercial Bank of Kuwait continues its humanitarian and social service initiatives to ensure that its role is not limited to being an economic institution, but it further exceeds this as the Bank participates in supporting various Kuwaiti associations and contributes in helping the needy.

In the boundaries of these humanitarian services, the Bank offers donations and financial contributions to various non-profit making social associations. One of the most important initiatives is the charity campaign organized by CBK during the holy month of Ramadan "Use and Donate" to encourage the use of credit cards where the Bank decided to donate part of its net profit to various charities. Dear Sir/madam,

Sub.: “Kuwait’s CSR Conference and Exhibition 2011”

We take this opportunity and most cordially invite you and your esteemed organization to take part as an exhibitor in our upcoming event “Kuwait’s CSR Conference and Exhibition 2011” scheduled to be held from “September 28 – 29, 2011 at Hilton Kuwait resort, Mangaf Kuwait”. It is a top level event and your esteemed organization participation as an exhibitor will be significant to endorse Corporate Social Responsibility in Kuwait.

The event will highlight the experiences of participating private & governments bodies and analyze them based on high international standards such as the economic and social framework of the sector; current business conditions; service to the surrounding community; and environmental and resource conservation.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) goes beyond donations to projects, developmental programs and charities. CSR requires a commitment to social development principles that provide several advantages to communities which can help them avoid negative economic, social and environmental conditions.

There are several areas included in social responsibility, including business management in accordance with ethical rules and principles; protection and preservation of major resources such as water, forests, wildlife and soil; prevention of and resistance to corruption; and the protection of human rights which can be achieved by, for example, helping workers acquire economic and social benefits such as savings, insurance, family care.

Therefore, CSR is not an option to be 'added' to the principle activities of the company but it is an integral part of corporate management. It is about building on existing practice, maximizing its impact and making a link between social responsibilities and best business practices.

Kuwait’s CSR Conference & Exhibition 2011, hope to attract senior executives in Arab and multi-national companies from the private and public sectors; leaders of civil society organizations; researchers, media professionals and activists involved in social responsibility; human rights organizations; and members of the United Nations and the Arab League.

We celebrate and salute the resilience of companies that have not only weathered the financial storm but remained resolute in trying times, to continuously uphold the highest standards in CSR while developing innovative and sustainable solutions and products for greater profitability and improving the welfare of societies.

We welcome you to sponsor and participate at our upcoming event and we wish you a fantastic year ahead!

I appreciate for taking time to read this letter and we look forward to your participation by being a part of it. In the meantime, I’m available to discuss any questions you may have thru phone or via email.
