Dubai World rolls out its annual community responsibility programme for workers in Jebel Ali

As part of its annual community responsibility programme, Dubai World's Procurement, Contracts and General Administration Department has organised daily free Iftar buffets for thousands of people working in the Jebel Ali port and free zone areas.

In a move designed to reach out to as many people as possible, the Iftar meals will be offered at eight of the 13 mosques within the zone, twice as many locations as during previous Ramadan months. All the mosques are run by Dubai World in cooperation with the Dubai Government's Department of Islamic Affairs.

Between 150 and 500 people are expected to break their day-long Ramadan fasts at each of these specially hosted events every day throughout the Holy Month.

The cost of the meals is borne by Dubai World through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme and contributions, in both cash and kind, from employees of the group and its business units.

In addition, several private companies based in Jafza have also chipped in by arranging generous quantities of food items and juices in coordination with the Dubai World organising team.

Saeed J. Al Qaizi, Director of Procurement, Contracts and General Administration, Dubai World, said, "This Ramadan we have worked out extensive plans to reach out to more people than ever before by doubling the number of locations where the Iftars are served. The eight mosques where the Iftars are being organised were strategically chosen in order to enable the maximum of people to break their fast without having to rush long distances from their work places. We thank all those individuals and companies who have contributed to this noble cause, which reflects the cherished values and traditions of the UAE."
