Vodafone deadline for community work
As the deadline for applying to Vodafone Qatar’s second ‘World of Difference’ programme approaches nearer, October 22, scores of applications have already been received.
‘World of Difference’, an initiative part of ‘Better World’, Vodafone Qatar’s corporate social responsibility strategy, is a unique flagship project and a first in Qatar in which Vodafone Qatar gives four people the opportunity to receive funding for 12 months to undertake projects to help the community in Qatar.
This could include helping a specific group of people, ways to protect the environment or making an impact on the local animal life.
“The programme has clearly generated a great deal of interest. We have received several interesting proposals that show how much people naturally are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others,” said Luisa Gentile, head of corporate social responsibility, Vodafone Qatar.
In its first year in Qatar, the programme provided funding for four people in Qatar that undertook projects such as teaching young girls fitness, teaching labourers English and bringing attention to an impoverished area.
“I am particularly keen in supporting this programme as it allows people to make a real difference in Qatar,” said Khalifa Saleh Haroon head of interactive.
