The Omani Women’s Association in Al Buraimi Governorate has become the latest beneficiary of Oman LNG’s far reaching social investment program that is divided into three broad categories: Empowering Communities, Championing Innovation and Investing in People.

An agreement to this effect was signed. The Association will receive the following equipment: 20 laptop and desktop computers, 10 sewing machines as well as air conditioners, photocopying and laminating machines to be used in the training of low income families in the governorate.

The items will be funded by Oman LNG, the Sultanate’s premier liquefied natural gas production and export facility which recently received approval, confirmed by the Ministry of Social Development to establish an eponymous foundation to safeguard the long term sustainability of the company’s corporate social responsibility projects.

Mr Mariam Rashid Mohammed al Yazediah president of Al Buraimi’s Omani Women’s Association said that “Our association caters mainly to low-income families in Al Buraimi and the support it is receiving from Oman LNG through this accord will enable the women in the association teach computer skills and tailoring to ladies, men and children living in the area.”

Mr Al Yezediah estimated that around 150 people could be trained by the Association within the first couple of months of receiving the apparatus. Al Buraimi is the most recent of many other Women’s Associations that have been provided with vital equipment by Oman LNG to support their communities. Only last month, the Omani Women’s Association in Dhank and Muscat received similar support.

Mr Ali bin Saleh al Hashar chief External Relations Officer at Oman LNG said that “As a responsible corporate citizen, Oman LNG continues to stand by the Omani Women Associations in many parts of the country, ready to offer assistance and support that empowers them to build strong communities. This latest pact with the Women’s Association in Al Buraimi ties into a much wider effort by the company to equip nationals with skills that lead to entrepreneurship or job placements.”
