Kia Jordan sponsors a soccer workshop for children at Zaatari refugee camp

National Arab Motors announced its sponsorship of a soccer workshop for the children of the Zaatari camp in collaboration with ‘Save the Children’ and the Brazilian Embassy in Jordan. The announcement came during a press conference that took place on July 8th, at Kuttar café.

Attending the press conference were the Brazilian ambassador in Jordan, Her Excellency, Renate Stille, Deputy Marketing Manager at Kia Jordan, Yazeed Abu Al Failat, Country Director of Save the Children, Tamer Kirolos, Coach Jose Mostacato, representing the Brazilian Soccer Academy which will be responsible for giving the workshop, Public Relations Specialist at the Brazilian embassy, Alaa Atiyat in addition to a number of media representatives.

Kia Jordan’s support of the initiative is under the umbrella of Kia Motors Corporations’ corporate social responsibility strategy, “Moving the World Together”. Activities and programs undertaken by Kia Jordan stem from this global strategy including Kia’s commitment to supporting sports tournaments and activities both locally and globally.

Commenting on the occasion, Yazeed Abu Al Failat, Deputy Marketing Manager of National Arab Motors, Said, “We saw in this initiative an opportunity to offer children at Zaatari refugee camp a chance to enjoy a special experience and train in one of the most popular sports in the world. We hope that this presents an opportunity for them to take a break from their reality and enjoy their childhood.”

“It is our pleasure to collaborate with Kia Jordan on this initiative,” said Ambassador Renate Stille. “This workshop will bring together the children of Zaatari to learn a sport that knows no border or language and we hope that this experience will be a fun and enjoyable one for them.”

“We believe that football has a lot to teach children and more importantly, it is capable of instilling in them a sense of hope and aspiration,” said Tamer Kirolos. “This initiative provides children at Al Zaatari, the opportunity to boast their talents and improve them. We remain committed to supporting refugee children, recognizing that football is an international language with many valuable principles to offer.”

The workshop will start on the 16th of July and last until the 18th. A total of 15 professional Brazilian coaches and retired players will be giving the training targeting 120 children between the ages of 6 and 14.
