Emirates General Petroleum Corporation 'Emarat' continues its efforts aiming at preserving the environment and protecting the health and safety of the community, through its support and enhancement of the services being provided to the customers which are aimed at facilitating recycling processes, the use of biodegradable bags, and recycling paper at its service stations.

Hussain Kazim, Manager Corporate Communications at Emarat, said that the Corporation aims, through these efforts, at encouraging the public to show more care for the environment and its welfare. 

He further added that the Corporation had launched in the few recent years numerous initiatives, including the installation of recycling units in 16 select service stations in Dubai and the launch of promotions to encourage customers to use these units. 

Kazim further said that these measures are in line with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards adopted by Emarat and its awareness of the importance that should be given to the preservation and protection of the UAE's environment.

He noted that Emarat's environmental initiatives include the use of special, eco friendly biodegradable shopping bags at all the convenience stores located at the Corporation's service stations in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, adding that Emarat is aware of the risks accompanying the use of non-biodegradable plastics, and the volume of pollution it can cause to the soil, air and water of the environment, not to mention the disfigurement of the places in which it randomly compiles.

Emarat's initiatives include also the collection and recycling of paper wastes at all its service stations, in cooperation with Emirates Environment Group. Kazim said that the recycling of paper has been going on for some years, and that it is one of the most important issues being addressed in regional and global communities, due to its reliable results in preserving resources and protecting the environment from pollution.

Kazim said that Emarat regards environmental issues as a priority, and aims at enhancing and supporting a healthy environment in the UAE through increasing the public's awareness of pollution's dangers and the importance of protecting the environment and its core elements, and that such campaigns and initiatives contribute in protecting the UAE's environment, especially that it is one of the key factors in Emarat's strategy.
