Bee'ah to organise environmental walk on Earth Day and launch new community portal

Celebrating Earth Day and its message: 'Mobilize the Earth', Bee'ah - the Middle East's leading & award-winning fully integrated environmental & waste management company - is set to organise the first Environmental-Walkathon on April 22nd 2012 in Sharjah, to draw attention and raise awareness on the importance of recycling and the beautification of the city of Sharjah.

The Bee'ah Environmental-Walkathon will be a 3km long walk starting from the Al Noor Mosque on the Buhairah Corniche and ending at the new Al Majaz Park, where the public will also have the opportunity to experience the new jogging track made by Bee'ah from over 6,000 recycled tyres.

The event will also see the launch of the myBee'ah loyalty programme - a rewards programme for environmental actions, supported by numerous businesses and retailers across the UAE.

According to Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Chief Executive Officer of Bee'ah: "At Bee'ah, our environmental philosophy is simple: Live better... Use less. Being at the forefront of positive environmental change, it is our responsibility to work with the community and educate our society on the simple ways which they can adapt and contribute to turning material and physical waste into recycled resources that can be re-used by the community and in the economy."

He added: "People of all ages, from all walks of life and all parts of the UAE are invited to join us, in Sharjah, to walk in support of our beautiful emirate, and express their commitment to protect the environment; as it is truly essential that the community works together to take action towards creating and maintaining an environmentally sustainable future."

In addition to the walk, a number of outdoor activities will be set up at the Al Majaz Waterfront to signifying the importance of the environmental principle of the three Rs - Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. By promoting the three Rs, Bee'ah aims to unite its voice with the people in Sharjah to educate the public and create awareness on how to live sustainably; making people aware of the conservation issues that affect them and helping individuals develop the lifelong habits and commitments that will protect the Emirate's environment and ultimately the planet.

Along with these activities, attendees will also receive giveaways including informative brochures and leaflets that are essential in educating them on the process of recycling.

They will also receive a token for points in which they can sign up for the myBee'ah Loyalty programme on the new online portal www.mybeeah.ae, a hub which aims to bring together environmental advocates and leaders, to interactively engage in shaping a greener future of the region.

Once registered, it will enable members to start redeeming gifts and vouchers for their environmental commitment.

This occasion will, moreover, see the roll-out of Bee'ah's latest Reverse Vending Machines, as part of Bee'ah's recycling drive make recycling even more rewarding, and promote a better, cleaner and greener environment for Sharjah and the UAE at large. myBee'ah Loyalty Members will earn points as they recycle more, based on the number of bottles and cans deposited in the machines installed across Sharjah.

Several government institutions and private companies from around the UAE including the Sharjah Municipality, Shurooq, Sharjah Police, and the Sharjah Education Zone, are supporting this event and its noble cause.
