Bee'ah - the Middle East's leading and award-winning integrated environmental and waste management company - will launch its new environmental community portal mybeeah.ae this Earth Day, a new social media hub as part of its community initiative mybee'ah, which aims to bring together environmental advocates and leaders, to interactively engage in shaping a greener future of the region.

The public will be able to log onto mybeeah.ae from Sunday April 22nd, which utilizes the latest available technology and innovation join likeminded environmentalists to share up-to-date with news, and communicate and interact with one another about community events and tips. With support from the site's Facebook page and twitter feed (which have already surpassed over 1,350 followers), visitors are encouraged to frequently revisit and engage in the changing conversation about the environment.

His Excellency Salim Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Bee'ah commented: "Bee'ah's online presence addresses a need in the environment industry to connect individuals and environmentalists with the necessary resources to achieve a better and more sustainable UAE environment. At Bee'ah, we believe that the key to achieving our environmental goals is to empower the community to adopt sustainable habits, by educating them with environmental principles, as well as providing them with the tools to make recycling a very simple and easy task."

He added: "This is why we are creating various initiatives to help overcome the UAE's environmental challenges, and attain our goal of zero-waste by 2015 across all the Emirate of Sharjah by finding other uses for waste as valuable resources. We are already on the way forward and hope that each member of society will attribute to our successes on journey of progress."

Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Chief Executive Officer of Bee'ah said: "mybeeah.ae is the first environmental interactive website in the region that gives individuals the power to make a difference! We are very pleased with the responses we have received so far from the public and have already registered 5,000 members even before the launch. It is a big encouragement as it demonstrates that we are on the right path of delivering our sustainable promise in educating the youth, engaging the public, and leading the change towards a more sustainable environment and a greener future."

Environmental advocates can register on the new website for the mybee'ah loyalty programme which rewards loyal environmentalists with redeemable points for their individual environmental efforts. This can be done by recycling at the Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) located around Sharjah city and soon around the UAE, by participating or volunteering at environmental events or even by engaging on the website. Points are redeemed in exchange for discounts, vouchers and other incentives from affiliate partners.

The launch will coincide with the first Environmental-Walkathon, to mobilize the UAE public and draw attention and raise awareness on the importance of recycling and the beautification of the city of Sharjah. The walk will begin at 5:30pm from the Al Noor Mosque on the Buhairah Corniche and finish at the new Al Majaz Park, where they will also have the opportunity to experience the new recycled tyres jogging track made by Bee'ah.

Bee'ah has been recognised for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts through the launch of its educational and community commitment initiatives throughout 2010 and 2011 which empowered the public to practice environmentally sustainable lifestyles within their society.

On the operational front, Bee'ah has built its sophisticated waste management infrastructure and facilities at Al Saj'ah in 2009, providing systematic segregation, processing and treatment of all types of waste streams in Sharjah. Furthermore, Bee'ah has implemented widespread clean-up operations across Sharjah by establishing its street cleaning and sweeping division, Tandeef.

Bee'ah also installed 3-stream pedestrian recyclers and launched various recycling programmes, that aim to encourage Sharjah residents to incorporate the 3Rs (reduce, re-use and recycle) into their lifestyle and provide socially and environmentally responsible companies to utilise these tools as platforms to communicate their CSR messages.

Now in its second year, the Bee'ah School of Environment - an environmental educational initiative supported by the Sharjah Education Zone and sponsored by various corporate partners - was launched to educate children about being environmentally conscious from a very early age. The initiative had successfully reached over 120,000 students within 114 schools across the Emirate Sharjah.
