Ahlibank Cares, an initiative of ahlibank, aims to address a number of pressing issues that the Omani society is experiencing today — whether it is cancer, child education or water conservation. As a bank that is sincere towards its social responsibilities, ahlibank has moved Corporate Social Responsibility a step further.
Along with creating awareness about these social issues, ahlibank is also getting the employees of the bank involved in its different CSR initiatives, the latest being the Go Green campaign.
Murtadha al Lawati, the Head of Corporate Communication Department, ahlibank, enthuses about this noble act. “The Go Green initiative is simple; each one of our ahlibankers will receive a small pot with a young cactus tree. The goal is to take care of this tree for one year and make sure that it grows to its maximum potential. Our team will be doing a surprise inspection every few weeks to monitor the growth and maintenance of the tree. After one year, the best three ‘tree owners’ will receive a certificate of appreciation from the CEO as well as three surprise prizes as a reward for their efforts. We have come up with this concept to give the ahlibank family a strong incentive to plant more trees and to try and contribute in whichever way possible to reduce our carbon footprint.”
AbdulAziz al Balushi, CEO, ahlibank also expressed happiness over this gesture. “We, at ahlibank, are responsible corporate citizens. We are fully aware of the need to protect our vulnerable environment. We believe every small Green step taken today would go a long way in building a greener future for the coming generations and that each one of us can work towards a better global environment”.
Since its establishment, ahlibank has been supportive of all to control environmental damage and degradation. Recently, in observance of the Earth Day, ahlibank was a strategic sponsor of “Clean Oman” initiatives as well as silver sponsor of Oman Environment Day.
